Corey Abramson

Although Corey has studied a variety of martial arts, he began seriously training in Judo in 2000. After graduating from UC Berkeley, he spent a year living in Korea where he trained under several world champions at the elite Yong-in Martial Arts University. A fan of mixed martial arts competition since the mid-nineties, he began training at Modern-Combatives in 2003. Since then, he has competed extensively in a wide variety of different combat sports including Judo, Muay Thai, Brazilian jujitsu, submission wrestling, and mixed martial arts. He became the captain of the Modern Combatives competition team in 2006. He appreciates the alive training format, the helpful non-hierarchical atmosphere of MODCOM, and the sense of community that permeates the gym, although he finds writing in the third person a bit awkward
